Slave of the Machine

Hello all,
Quick update: I'm working with Advanced Photographic Solutions, in Cleveland, TN doing freelance work. I'm currently redesigning their corporate website as well as redesigning their logo and branding. It's been a fun project and has got me working with Flash, which i strayed from trying to learn.

But let me get back to my post for today, which is called "Slave of the Machine" what i mean by this, is as designers, esp. in the corporate world, how do we get the respect of other peers with longer titles. Does anyone even care what we as educated and trained designers, do on a daily basis, to make sure that a corporation keeps a positive image with it's consumers. Many people would think it's just magic. That designers conjure images, type, ideas, colors, together to make something that gives that the corporation the right brand image towards its audience. How does a corporation value their graphic designers, creative directors, and web designers?

"Well, I could do that!" "I need this website done in 3 days!" "This website isn't worth that much money!"

I'm glad i'm in a situation right now where i am my own boss, and that even though the money isn't as stable as someone with a salaried position, i'm happy creating work, that i like and clients that i love working with everyday. They allow me to do what they pay me to do. To create ideas, to brand their organization or company, and to, in effect, become a business partner and not just a creative slave that they use and reuse without appreciation of what we do.

Take in mind, not all corporations are like that, but there are some that are. I hope that one day that all creatives will have the same respect as the Accoutant, CFO, or CEO. Maybe when that day comes i may decide to go back to a cubicle and work at the computer...or maybe not.

Hello, Everybody!

What's up everyone! I just want to give some quick updates about projects i've completed and things i'm working on....First check out www.clevelandraiderwrestling.com
It's a website for my old highschool wrestling team, i'm still adding all kinds of things to it, so right now it's in it's first stage. Also i've just got signed on to redesign a company website for Advanced Photographic Solutions in Cleveland, Tennessee. Their current website isn't very organized right now. I'm also doing freelance work with East-West Media doing various billboards. And i'm working on a media guide for Campbellsville University's Wrestling Team. I think it's going to turn out great for them and hopefully make some money for them!
